Water our most valued resource. Now we may argue that we are facing water scarcity and other related problems. Well the fact is that according to science, in a matter of ten to twelve years, Climate Change is going to be irreversible and we will face all sorts of related problems, from droughts to frequent hurricanes, floods, rising oceans and drowning nations.

WHAT CAN YOU DO ?
It is often said, that a small action goes a long way.
Conscious consumption​ for sustainability.
Support local farmers and contribute to the local circular economy.
Help in the global movement by promoting Climate Change awareness amongst everyone.
Participate in the campaign and rally on the 24th of May and such other campaigns to follow.
Our local demands: Six point actions for six months
A mandatory ​introduction of public transportations such as school buses in all schools within the city - this will help significantly reduce carbon emissions and congestion.
A bill to be introduced for more comprehensive protection of the Shillong Reserve Forest and to introduce a " Green space bill" - a bill for the development of clean and green leisure parks within the city.
To introduce a bill to make the construction of rain-water harvesting system compulsory for all permission to develop new real estate projects.
Shifting to renewable sources of energy
Reviving the rivers movement- a movement to bring back the cleanliness to our local streams.
To introduce PT Tuesdays and Thursdays or " Public Transportation Tuesdays and Thursdays" a plan which would make the use of public transportation compulsory on Tuesdays and Thursdays compulsory for public servants and government employees.
WHAT IS THE MOVEMENT ABOUT ?
We the team of Fridays For Future Shillong movement are glad to see that there is still enthusiasm among the people of the city to help contribute towards the cause of our future and to the cost of the future of millions of species of plants and animals which are on the brink of extinction.
Our species is responsible for all the damage done, the damage happening and the damage yet to be done. It is now paramount for all of us the youths to come together and unite for our future that we may still be able to save.
By the next decade, if global greenhouse gas emissions are not significantly reduced, we are looking at damage that can no longer be reversed. If the global average temperature by the next decade increases by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius, we are looking at rising sea levels which brings with it various other problems.
We invite you the people of Shillong to join us in our global effort to bring international obligation to the terms and objectives of the Paris Climate Agreement of 2015. Let us come together before its too late after all climate delay is climate denial.
